Get It In The Basket
The new nine hole disc golf course at Little Creek Park in South Charleston officially opens on Saturday morning.
"It's set up similar to golf, except you're throwing a disc and the object is to make it into a basket," says City of South Charleston Parks Superintendent Mick Prouse when asked how it works.
"We have three holes that are actually out in the open and then six that are more down in the woods."
It's a Par Three course and there is no charge to play.
Prouse will be playing disc golf for the first time on Saturday. He says South Charleston opted to build the course because of requests from residents.
"We had some interest, some people who had approached our Recreation Committee about it and we looked into it," he says. "We just decided to try it and see."
The Opening Ceremony is planned for 10 a.m. on Saturday
From the Charleston Gazette
In addition, the council announced that the grand opening of Frisbee golf would take place Saturday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. at Shelter 9 at Little Creek Park. The first 100 people will receive a free Frisbee disc.
